Dear Women Former Students:

In 1963, the face of Texas A&M was forever changed as women were formally admitted as
students for the first time.  With that act, the great history of our institution became forever
intertwined with the contributions women have made:  as students, as former students, and as
faculty and staff.

Today, women comprise:

                      •        47% of the student body;
                      •        37% of living former students;
                      •        29% of faculty; and
                      •        55% of staff of Texas A&M University.

Last year, 45 years after women’s admittance to Texas A&M, a group of women Aggies came
together to create the Women Former Students’ Network (WFSN)as a Constituent Network of
The Association of Former Students.  The mission of the WFSN is to enhance the excellence of
TAMU by increasing women’s involvement in the educational, charitable, and cultural life of the
institution.

The WFSN is a wonderful vehicle to recognize the contributions women have already made to the
institution, and to help prepare the path for our current and future students.   In 2008, we
established our first presidential endowed scholarship through a Women’s Legacy Fund, began
organization of a mentoring program for current students, established the Women’s Legacy
Award to honor women’s historic contributions, and much more.

The WFSN has struck a chord with women former students around the world – all who share an
interest in touching the lives of our current students.  Through the WFSN, women former
students are leaders, mentors, role models, supports to one another, and so much more.  As we
strive to give back to the generation that follows us, we remind all who see us, with a wry smile,
that sometimes the 12th Man wears a skirt.

We hope you will come join us - - come help us create Texas A&M’s next great tradition.  For
